Marcus Valerius Probus. Hoc in volumine haec continentur. M. Val. Probus De notis Roma. ex codice manuscripto castigatior. Venice, Giovanni Tacuino, 1525. In 4° (214 x 140 mm); [4], LXXIX [but 81], [1] papers.Frontispiece printed in red and black, acarta a4verse engraving of the Sibyl by Benedetto Montagna (provenance removed at lower margin of frontispiece with restoration in white paper). Back binding in half vellum with corners. Publication contains the first edition of Bede's De computo.Tomash & Williams: "Bede documented the medieval form of hand gestures known as finger numerals, and his is the first printed record we have of them. Bede's description is short and contains no diagrams. It simply lists the finger positions used to representintegers from 1-9,999 and adds a very short remark on the Greek alphabetic number system."
