Rare first edition of Benedetti's early work in which he seeks a general solution to the problems of Euclid'sElements using a compass with a fixed radius.The dedication that opens the book also contains the first demonstration of the thesis that the acceleration of bodies in free fall is constant, and not proportional to weight as the traditional Aristotelian-derived doctrine held-a concept normally only attributed to Galileo.
