[Conchiology]. Knorr, Georg Wolfgang. Vergnügen der Augen und des Gemüths, in Vorstellung einer allgemeinen Sammlung von Muscheln und andern Geschöpfen, welche im Meer gefunden werden. Nuremberg, Knorr, 1757-72. In 4° (258 x 198 mm); 6 parts in 2 volumes; [4], 39, [1]; 56, [16]; 52; 48, [14]; 46; 76; 18; 100; 23, [1]; 11, [1]; 7, [1] pages. 6 frontispieces and 190 engraved and hand-colored plates (minor flaws.) Coeval bindings in bazzana with gilt friezes and title on double gusset at spine, red boards. Ex libris nobiliare. First edition with the plates in beautiful coeval coloring. It is considered one of the finest works of eighteenth-century shells. At the end of the second volume also "Ehrenrettung des seel. Herrn G. W.Knorrens gegen die ihm in den Nachrichten von Kunstlern und Kunstsachen gemachten Beschuldigungen" from 1772. (2)
