[Composite Atlas]. Set of 6 folio volumes with over 300 maps drawn by Mercator, Jansson, Blaeu, Visscher, Hondius, Ortelius, Lecelrc and others, all with coeval coloring, many with eighteenth-century hand annotations in the margins, each volume with manuscript indexes and explanatory texts, in full vellum bindings with various types of gilt iron decoration (browning, tears, old restorations, missing.) The set consists of the third volume of the Theatrum orbis terrarum dated 1650 with frontispiece and 58 maps, a tome with 35 maps of the then known world, a volume of 64 maps of Europe, a volume on France with 71 maps, a volume on the Italian and Iberian peninsulas with 45 double-page plates, and finally a volume on Germany with 61 maps.The lot is sold as a set of plates; a list of maps is available upon request.
