Title page within figured xylographic border, portrait on verso of title page, 12 double-page maps, 4-page views of Worms, Heidelberg, and Vienna, 37 double-page views, numerous figures and views in text, letterpress mark at end of volume (first two maps missing, small woodworm holes, larger at white margin of about 20 center maps, title page restored, other defects). Contemporary burgundy morocco binding with heraldic supra libros, friezes and title in gold on spine, 2 clasps. Second Latin edition of the famous work by Münster, considered one of the most famous Renaissance cosmographers.The particular success, also commercial, of this work was due in part to the beautiful engravings, among whose authors may be mentionedHans Holbein the Younger,Urs Graf,Hans Rudolph Manuel Deutsch, and David Kandel.
