Dagobert PECHE (1887-1923) Rectangular mirror, model created around 1922 Published by Max WELZ for the Wiener Werkstätte In molded and carved gilded wood Decorated with foliage on the pediment Blackened wood plate studded on back 37 x 24 x 2.5 cm (Worn gilding, restorations) NOTICE Dagobert Peche was an Austrian designer and member of the Wiener Werkstätte movement, along with Josef Hoffman, Koloman Moser and Carl Otto Czeschka. Influenced by the Art Crafts movement of William Morris and the ideas of Art Nouveau, his creations are characterized by high-quality craftsmanship and rich plant ornamentation, giving them a preciousness reminiscent of Gustav Klimt and Emmanuel Josef Margold.
