Picasso's collaboration with the Madoura studio began in 1946, when he went to Vallauris to meet Georges and Suzanne Ramié. Returning the following year, he began a long collaboration with the studio, producing several thousand pieces. The principle of the authentic replica implies a faithful reproduction of volumes and decors in relation to the original master model. It therefore differs from the original imprint, which is simply an identical reproduction of the decor.
