Wang Yan CHENG (born 1960) Abstract composition Oil on canvas Signed lower right Sales label on stretcher 130 x 130 cm PROVENANCE - Christie's sale, December 6, 2017, lot n°181 Condition report available on request: [email protected] NOTICE Born in 1960 in the Chinese province of Guangdong, Wang Yan Cheng trained as an artist at the Shandong School of Art before becoming a teacher in China. He also studied in France in the 1990s, strengthening his ties with the country. His talent was recognized at the Salon d'Automne in Paris in 1996, earning him the Prince-Albert II Grand Prix in Monaco. Since then, his work has been exhibited in renowned institutions in China and abroad, including New York and Italy. Influenced by painters such as Zao Wou-Ki and Chu Teh-Chun, he is now considered a Franco-Chinese master of lyrical abstraction.
