[Original Pencillings by John Leech Elegant album containing a total of 11 original pencil drawings by English caricaturist John Leech (1817-1864), best known for his illustration work in "The Punch" and for Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol. These are mainly drawings for Life and Character magazine and for The Punch, the English hullabaloo. The drawings are captioned with a small humorous text and the page of the magazine in question; 3 are uncaptioned. Lovely English binding signed "Bound by Head from Haydays", in excellent condition, in full blue leather, 4 ribbed spine and boxes decorated with gilt fillet frames, triple gilt fillet frames on the boards and corner ornaments, title in the center, gilt edges, gilt clasps intact, a superb copy. One page of unsigned sketches, on loose pages, in the style of the same artist, in rather poor condition. In-8 oblong, Italian format.
