VOYAGES] Jean-Marie FLEURIOT, Marquis de LANGLE - Voyage de Figaro en Espagne [Suivi de] Anne-Gabriel MEUSNIER de QUERLON Règlement pour l'Opera de Paris [Suivi de] ANONYME [Attribué à DE CERFVOL] - L'aveugle qui refuse de voir [The blind man who refuses to see Charming factitious collection of 3 very rare satyric stories bound in a small in-16 volume in full contemporary calf binding with well-orned smooth spine and red morocco (spine cap trimmed). Includes : - Marquis de Langle - Voyage de Figaro en Espagne, Saint-Malo, 1784, rare first edition (published elsewhere the same year) of this fictional travelogue painting a very negative picture of Spain and Spaniards, even though the author had never set foot in the country! The work aroused the wrath of King Charles III, who threatened to ban the French from his kingdom, and was thus condemned to the fire, which ironically contributed to its success. 286pp + errata. [Followed by] - Règlement pour l'Opera de Paris avec des notes historiques, in Utopie chez Thomas Morus au Papillon in 1743, probably the first edition of this fictional and satirical regulation, which offers a faithful reflection of the way actresses were considered at the time, both as comedians and courtesans. Absent from the Goncourt library and most bibliographies, such as Gay-Lemonnyer. Several editions appear to have appeared, this one without frontispiece title and with a pagination of 72p. [Followed by] - L'aveugle qui refuse de voir, undated, London, Jean Nourse (late 18th century), certainly the first edition of this rare, anonymously published satyrical opuscule attributed to the Chevalier de Cerfvol. Dictionnaire des anonymes, I355 84pp.
