Spanish school, late 19th century. "Navy with boats". Oil on canvas. Signed with initials "E.S." Presents a visible restoration on the back. Measurements: 55 x 87 cm; 75 x 105 cm (frame). Painting of naval theme resolved with meticulous brushstroke and tight stroke, as it was usual in the detailed representation of military ships or that played an important role in the maritime history of the country. The flags flying from the masts identify a battleship model of the Spanish naval industry. The sails are lowered in the line of larger ships. Small sailboats skirt the sea, and in the distance numerous ships are silhouetted in the soft mist. The framing is wide and abysses the horizon into a broad panoramic view. The water ripples with a rhythmic cadence.
