Gazdar. A gold, ruby and diamond stork clip brooch, the stork's body set with multiple ruby collets, the feet with calibré ruby detail and diamond and onyx eye, signed Gazdar, circa 1950, length 4.5cm The jewellery firm Gazdar was established in Mumbai in 1933 by brothers Rusi J. Gazdar and Dinshah J. Gazdar. Their boutique was situated inside the historic Taj Mahal Hotel. In 1955 Gazdar introduced their distinctive jadau designs to add to their burgeoning collections. Patrons included the princely states of Jaipur, Gwalior, Baroda, Bikaner, Patiala and Hyderabad. In 1974 Dinshah Gazdar began a joint venture with Dharmendra Gandhi. In 1990 Dharmendra Gandhi, along with his son Mr. Ravin took over the business which is now run by Shreyans Gandhi. Gazdar jewels have gained a reputation for producing innovative high quality jewellery incorporating the finest of gems.
