A group of medals and medallions attributed to Sir Denys Buckley MBE,medals comprise: badge of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (Military), badge of the Order of St John, Defense Medal, War Medal 1939-45, George VI Coronation 1937 medal, USA Medal of Freedom, mounted as worn; together with miniatures and Medal of Freedom presentation case; Order of St John neck badge; and various commemorative medals and badges including an Edward Prince of Wales investiture commemorative medallion, a George V bronze Coronation medallion 1911, in case, and a 19th century base metal electrotype copy of 1584 wax seal die of Sir Walter Raleigh (a lot) Denys Burton Buckley (1907 - 1998)was born in Kensington, the son of Henry Burton Buckley, 1st Baron Wrenbury. In World War II he served with the RAOC achieving the rank of Major and GSO Directorate, Signals War Office and was awarded the Medal of Freedom by the United States of America. He was called as a barrister at Lincoln's Inn and in 1949 became a Bencher. He was appointed as a High Court Judge in 1960 in the Chancery Division, and received the customary knighthood. From 1962 to 1970 he served in the Restrictive Practices Court, and was appointed President in 1968. In 1970 he was elevated to the Court of Appeal and was appointed a Privy Councillor. He served as a member of the Law Reform Committee from 1963 to 1973.
