Two beautiful superimposed panoramic views of the cities of Orleans and Bourges, published in Braun-Hogenberg's 6-volume atlas of "Cities of the Earth" published from 1572 to 1617. 40.5 x 54 cm at sight. Bends, foxing, emargé. Various editions of this atlas were published in Latin, German and French. The views are attributed to the Antwerp draughtsman Joris or Georg Hoefnagel (1542-1600), who traveled to the Loire Valley in 1561. The views were subsequently engraved by Franz Hogenberg and published by Georg Braun. The view of Bourges includes a legend detailing the city's main monuments.
