Afra and Tobia SCARPA (1935- ) Exceptional set of one table and six chairs model "Africa" Artona series Created in 1975 Maxalto Edition, stamped, in walnut wood, molded plywood and wood marquetry, seat in black leather. The "Africa" chair, part of the "Artona" line, is the result of the marriage of sophisticated formal design by Afra and Tobia Scarpa with the excellence of Maxalto craftsmanship established in 1975. The sculptural quality of the Africa chair is accentuated by the assembly of beautiful, rich veneers and highly decorative noble wood inlays that form an organic circular pattern visible from both sides. Until the early 90s, Afra and Tobia Scarpa were intimately involved with Maxalto, with the ambition to revisit the past while maintaining the highest quality of craftsmanship and materials.
