Henri ALVIN-CORREA (1876-1910) "War of the Worlds" H.G. Wells, chromotype poster by L. Vandamme & Co, Brussels, 1906. In 1906, Brazilian artist Henrique Alvim Corrêa produced over 130 illustrations depicting an alien invasion of London for a deluxe edition of H.G. Wells' "War of the Worlds" published in Belgium in just 500 copies. Alvim Corrêa had arrived in Paris in 1894 to study art, and after marrying he moved to Brussels in 1900 to open his studio, where he drew these illustrations with H.G. Wells' personal approval.
