Joris Abrahamsz van der HAAGEN (Arnhem vers 1615-La Haye 1669)

Duck hunting Oak panel, one board, not parqueted. 41 x 53 cm Monogrammed lower left JAH. Provenance: Chez Heim, Paris, in the 1960s. Joris van der Haagen learned painting from his father Abraham van der Haagen and began his career in Arnhem. On his father's death in 1639, he left Arnhem and moved to The Hague, where he became a member of the Guild of Saint Luke in 1643. He was one of the founding members of the Confrérie Pictura, an association of painters in The Hague.
