Rinaldo Pardi (Castelli, 1898 - Castelli, 1945) R.Pardi, Plate depicting alegoric female figure 20th century - 1917 painted majolica and third-fired gold diameter 31 cm painted majolica and third-fired gold diameter 31 cm 20th century - 1917 The parade dish has a rich, scenic brim of foliate whorls on a cobalt-blue background, enriched with third-firing gold touches. The cavetto bears, within a wooded landscape, an allegorical female figure in the foreground and, behind her, a putto with lyre. Rinaldo Pardi, among the most highly regarded ceramists of the early 1900s, attended the Royal Institute of Art in Castelli and received prestigious recognition even outside Castelli, where he returned in 1917 as a teacher at the same school he had attended. The artist signs and dates the plate under consideration both in the cavetto and on the back. Conservation status: excellent
