Description

MASERATI FOUNTAIN PEN. Gold body and black resin. Limited edition. Golden nib. M tip. Screw cap. Cartridge loading. No box. Unused. Measurements: 13,5 cm. The high-end sports car brand was founded in Bologna by Alfieri Maserati in 1914. Its emblem was possibly designed by Mario Maserati, which is a trident inspired by the statue of the Fountain of Neptune in Bologna, which adorns the main square of that city. In 1920, one of the Maserati brothers used this symbol at the suggestion of family friend Marquis Diego de Sterlich. It was considered particularly appropriate for this venture, because Neptune represents strength and vigor. In addition, the statue is a characteristic symbol of the company's original hometown. The brand was acquired in 1937 by the Italian entrepreneur Adolfo Orsi, who moved the factory from Bologna to Modena and, under that management, the firm produced the first automobiles in which luxury received the same attention as power. In 1968 it was acquired by Citroën, which with the help of designer Ghia, created some of the most interesting cars of all times, such as: Ghibli, Khamsin, Bora, Kyalami and the twin-turbo models, among others. These names were taken from famous African and Asian winds. In 1975, due to the requirements of the acquisition by Groupe PSA, Citroën had to divest itself of the Italian brand in favor of a consortium managed by the Argentine ex-Formula 1 driver Alejandro de Tomaso. No box. Unused.
