Leo Tolstoy, the Russian master of realistic fiction and author of epic works such as "War and Peace" and "Anna Karenina", is the latest figure in world literature to be honored with a limited edition inspired by his life and cultural legacy. Yasnaya Polyana, the family home where Tolstoy was born and where he resided with his wife and children, is the inspiration for the Leo Tolstoy limited edition. In this idyllic rural setting, Tolstoy adhered to his teachings of finding happiness in the simple life led by the peasants, a theme that is reflected in the simplicity of the overall form and design of the writing instrument. The characteristic pillars of the entrance to the Yasnaya Polyana estate are reflected in the shape of the top of the cap, which is crowned with the Montblanc emblem in black and white resin. Tolstoy's philosophy of working the land with his own hands is symbolized in the elaborately hand-crafted, hammered and silver-plated barrel case. The dark gray precious resin lid, blue-marbled resin cone and platinum-plated fittings reflect the colors found on the covers of his early important works, as well as the colors of the modest studio in which he wrote his most important works. The cap ring ornament is inspired by a traditional Russian woven pattern that would have adorned the modest peasant robes Tolstoy made for himself. The great author's signature is engraved on the cap, while the aristocratic family coat of arms features the 750 rhodium-plated solid gold nib of the fountain pen, a subtle design detail that highlights its provenance and the value it placed on the family. Since 1992 Montblanc dedicates each year, the Writers Limited Edition to an outstanding author of world literature, a source of inspiration for the great writers of contemporary literature. The magic and passion that emanates all his work surrounds this Limited Edition Writers. The Montblanc firm was founded in 1906, and in 1913 was created the star that is its emblem and hallmark of the house. It is a round white star that represents the snow that covers the summit of Mont Blanc, the highest mountain in Europe, and symbolizes the commitment of the brand as European manufacturers of objects of the highest quality and distinction.
