He studied painting in his home town at the Grand Ducal Baden School of Art and initially worked in Berlin, then from 1899 in Munich. - A few very inconspicuous brown spots. Very good condition. Original illustration sketch for the Meggendorfer Blätter. Around 1900. Chalk and ink on buff, strong vélin, heightened with white. Monogrammed. The sheets were most likely used as patterns for textiles and contain a variety of both playful and geometric motifs, often with depictions of birds and flowers. The Art Deco style that emerged at this time is characterized above all by its eclecticism. Drawing on a variety of sources, it attempted to combine old European design traditions with the modern style popularized by avant-garde art. - The French painter, graphic artist and decorator Jacques Camus (born 1893) was a student of Claudio Castelucho and Lucien Simon.
