He studied painting in his home town at the Grand Ducal Baden School of Art and initially worked in Berlin, then from 1899 in Munich. - A few very inconspicuous brown spots. Very good condition. Original illustration sketch for the Meggendorfer Blätter. Around 1900. Chalk and ink on buff, strong vélin, heightened with white. Monogrammed. This wonderful collection of splendidly colored designs is located on the threshold between Art Nouveau and Art Deco. The sheets were most likely used as patterns for textiles and contain a variety of both playful and geometric motifs, often with depictions of birds and flowers. The Art Deco style that emerged at this time is characterized above all by its eclecticism. Drawing on a variety of sources, it attempted to combine old European design traditions with the modern style popularized by avant-garde art. - The French painter, graphic artist and decorator Jacques Camus (born 1893) was a student of Claudio Castelucho and Lucien Simon. Mounted in spots under mat and framed under glass. - The oil paint with craquelée in spots. Paper a bit wavy due to mounting. At all in a very good condition. Atmospheric and finely worked out scene which gets its charm by the adept combination of watercolour and oil paint. - Flemish painter and representative of Flemish Romanticism. Donny was best known for his atmospheric scenes at moonlight.
