Chronochromie belongs to this last period, during which the painter introduced non-figurative elements into his compositions. Here, however, the encounter is more complex. The figurative central section, enriched with collages, is contrasted with the lower part of the painting, composed of abstract forms simplified by the use of a monochrome hue, and the upper part, which displays with aplomb the use of an upholstery fabric that emphasizes the lack of depth of the whole.
