(1491-1547) erstellt und wurde von Battista Agnese (ca. 1500-1564) geschaffen. Er gilt als einer der versiertesten und produktivsten Kartographen des 16. Jahrhunderts und erhielt zahleiche Aufträge für Atlanten von europäischen Herrschern, wie auch 1542 vom englischen König Heinrich VIII. Alle Teile dieses Atlas sind aufeinander bezogen, sie verbinden die Eroberungen, Neuentdeckungen und Abenteuer der Menschheit zu einer universellen Struktur. The metal plate on the cover follows the model of the Preetz Gospels from the convent of Preetz near Kiel. - One of the masterpieces of 13th century German book art, the manuscript was a gift from Henry III to the canons of Speyer. The magnificent script of the Gospels, designed in gold ink, that was to serve Gutenberg as a model for his printed type. - Very good copy.
