Antoine-Louis BARYE (1793-1875) Venus Pereire, draped version (1857) Chased bronze sculpture with brown patina richly shaded in red Univers Du Bronze edition, cast by Susse Fondeur, numbered E.O., N°6/8 inscribed, circa 1999 Signed H. 42, W.12, D.12 cm NOTE : - A certificate from Galerie Univers Du Bronze, Paris, will be given to the purchaser. - This sculpture is a central element of the candelabra forming part of the "Apollon conduisant le char du soleil (1858-1861)" set commissioned from Antoine-Louis BARYE by Isaac PEREIRE, politician, entrepreneur and banker, for his mansion at 35, rue du Faubourg Saint-Honoré, Paris, now the British Embassy. Our sculpture features the independent drapery of the Venus' body.
