HECTOR LÉVY, PARIS. "Sonnerie Quantièmes. N° 227002. Late 19th century. Gold savonnette pocket watch with chronograph function, striking and full calendar. Round case, gold bowl, monogrammed "BC" on back and signed "Hector Levy Fab. 139 Bvd Sébastopol Paris". White dial, Roman numerals, 2 auxiliary dials for date and days of the week, aperture for months, auxiliary seconds, aperture for moon phases, railroad minute track with 1/5 second graduation. Mechanical movement with crown winding, anchor escapement, bimetallic balance wheel, marked "US Patent". Diameter: 5.5 cm. Gross weight: 159.7 g. (glass missing, scratches and wear). Accompanied by a period wooden case monogrammed "BG" and inscribed "Haute Précision, n° 227002, Répétition Quantièmes" inside. Provenance: Amateur collection. Note: Born in 1847 in Saint-Quentin (Aisne), Hector Lévy was accepted as an adherent member of the Société Horlogère de Paris in 1881. At the beginning of the 20th century, he built a factory in La Chaux-de-Fonds and opened a store at 139 Boulevard Sébastopol in Paris. A watchmaker and manufacturer of precision instruments, Hector Levy was also an excellent businessman, working in collaboration with his brother-in-law Georges Meyer, founder of the UTI factory. On January 17, 1907, at the age of 59, Hector Levy died in his Paris apartment on Avenue de Wagram, and is buried in Père-Lachaise. Expert : Geoffroy ADER assisted by Justine LAMARRE
