Deshayes" lower left, titled and dated on reverse 25.5 x 17.5 cm Framed Condition report available on request: [email protected] NOTICE French Orientalist painter and student at the École des Beaux-Arts, he was a pupil of Jean-Léon Gérôme. He exhibited in Algiers from 1890, then travelled throughout North Africa. His works met with great success, particularly his paintings of Algerian landscapes and everyday scenes. He became official painter to the navy in 1910.
