Description

JAPAN - MEIJI period (1868 - 1912) Large bronze incense burner, in five parts, the foot decorated with a frieze of underwater fauna, one with chimeras playing in a garden, the third with openwork petals. The globular body is decorated in poly-lobed cartouches with chimeras playing in a garden and a dragon in the clouds. Removable handles in the form of sinuous dragons holding cups. The openwork lid with gourds in foliage is crowned by a combat scene between an eagle and a dragon (accidents, missing parts, detached pieces). H. 63.4 cm
