Finest jewel box in the courtly style of the 18th century Idar-Oberstein probably around 1830. 7,5 x 4,7 x 3,2 cm Aventurine worked with 750/000 yellow gold (tested) and silver applications, these are set with 48 small rubies, ca.165 diamond roses and 5 probably oriental pearls. Diamond shaped body with removable lid, ornamental openwork applications. Ca. 111,8g Private collection Rhineland-Palatinate Exhibition German Gemstone Museum, Idar-Oberstein, gemstone boxes through the centuries, 09.05. to 15.11.2015. The jewel box is a fine example of the outstanding stone work quality that the gemstone cutters have been doing for centuries in Idar-Oberstein. Many of the courtly stone works, as well as in later times pieces from the houses of Cartier or Van Cleefs & Apples were made in Idar-Oberstein.
