A GOLD RING WITH A ‘BUDDHA’S EYE’ AGATE STONE, HIMALAYAN REGION, 17TH-18TH CENTURY OR EARLIER The ring finely crafted from thick gold sheet, the slender lower section of the band flaring to the large concave upper section which houses the agate ‘Buddha’s eye’ gemstone within a raised setting. Provenance: The collection of The Zelnik István Southeast Asian Gold Museum. Institutional art collection in Belgium, acquired from the above. Dr. István Zelnik, President of the Hungarian South and Southeast Asian Research Institute, is a former high-ranking Hungarian diplomat who spent several decades in Southeast Asia, building the largest known private collection of Asian art in Europe.
