A GILT-LACQUER WOOD FIGURE OF BUDDHA, VIETNAM, 17TH-18TH CENTURY Finely carved, seated in dhyanasana on an associated, red-lacquered base with a waist apron and scrolling vines, his right hand held in karana mudra. Wearing voluminous robes falling in elegant folds, tied along his abdomen with a sash. His serene face with heavy-lidded downcast eyes, full lips forming a calm smile, and sinuous brows beneath a crown with ruyi-shape panels. Provenance: French private collection. Private collection of Régis Gonnard, acquired from the above. Condition: Extensive wear, flaking to the lacquer, small chips, losses, and structural cracks, presenting well. The associated base secured by several screws.
