A SILK EMBROIDERED DRAGON PANEL IN TWO-TONE GOLD, CHINA, 19TH CENTURY Finely embroidered in satin stitch and two-color gold-wrapped thread with a ferocious five-clawed dragon writhing around a flaming pearl against a red ground. The coiled mythical beast with well detailed scales, bloodshot eyes, and wavy mane, amid colorful lingzhi-shaped clouds, its lower body partly obscuring the terrestrial diagram, crashing waves, and lishui stripe. Note the finely executed brocade border. Provenance: French trade. Condition: Excellent condition with only minor wear, a few loose threads, minuscule splits, and light soiling to the brocade frame. At the backside stapled to a carboard piece, but not laid down.
