AN ARCHAISTIC GREEN AND RUSSET JADE ‘CHILONG WITH LINGZHI’ BI DISK, MING DYNASTY

AN ARCHAISTIC GREEN AND RUSSET JADE ‘CHILONG WITH LINGZHI’ BI DISK, MING DYNASTY China, 1368-1644. Finely carved in high relief with two prowling chilong, one holding a lingzhi sprout in its mouth, the ferocious beasts well detailed with pricked ears and furcated tails. The translucent jade is of a deep green tone with fine russet hues, icy veins, and cloudy inclusions. Provenance: German private collection, acquired before 1990 in Berlin. Condition: Very good condition with minor wear and light nibbling to edges. The jade with natural fissures, some of which have developed into small hairline cracks.
