A HONGMU INCENSE STAND, QING DYNASTY

A HONGMU INCENSE STAND, QING DYNASTY China, 1644-1912. The finely carved hongmu incense stand with a floating panel set within a rectangular frame above a narrow waist and apron carved with stylized beast masks. The elegantly bulging legs of square section joined by humpback-base stretchers. Provenance: Masterpiece Arts House, Singapore. German private collection, acquired from the above on 29 June 1978. A copy of the original invoice accompanies this lot. Condition: Extensive wear, manufacturing flaws, shallow scratches, expected age cracks, several joins loose, water marks, and nicks, overall still presenting well.
