Ɏ A HUANGHUALI TRAVEL CHEST, QING DYNASTY China, 1644-1912. Of rectangular form embellished with bronze mounts at the corners and edges, a hinged lid secured with a metal clasp over a circular plate opening to reveal the large compartment. The sides fitted with curved handles on the sides, all raised on a low base. The golden-hued huanghuali wood with a superb grain. Provenance: Masterpiece Arts House, Singapore. German private collection, acquired from the above on 29 June 1978. A copy of the original invoice accompanies this lot. Condition: Good condition with wear, manufacturing flaws, light scratches, natural flaws, few water marks, small nicks, minor losses to the mounts, and some of the fittings loose.
