A rare Minton Pottery Gothic tea set designed by Augustus Welby Northmore Pugin, comprising; milk-jug and slop basin, six cups, saucers and side plates, and two cake plates, printed in blue to the well with a tracery roundel, the rim with a stylised flower repeat in blue on a white ground, impressed Minton marks, printed Gothic mark, 23.5cm. diam. (cake plates) (22) Provenance Private collection Exhibited Pugin V&A Museum, catalogue number 117, this actual set exhibited. This design was the first by Pugin produced by Minton.
