Circle of Jean Baptiste Oudry, French 1686-1755- Still life with a hare, game, and a hunting dog in a landscape; oil on panel, 84 x 121.4 cm. Note: The present work resembles the still lifes with game for which Oudry was celebrated, particularly in his distinctive depiction of pointers, as evident in his 'Dog Pointing a Partridge' in the collection of the Hermitage Museum in St Petersburg [ГЭ-2528], and his 'Dog Pointing Pheasants' in the Wallace Collection [P625].

CAPODIMONTE D'APRES BLONDEAU OUDRY Valet de chiens et ses limiers WHITE ENAMELED PORCELAIN Mark with crowned N and intaglio mark "d'après Oudry". 36 x 32 x 24 cm approx. This model is said to be by sculptor Pierre Blondeau, based on the creations of animal painter Jean-Baptiste Oudry. Issued for the first and only time in the 18th century for Louis XVI, this "Surtout des Chasses" table centrepiece was reproduced several times in the 19th century, notably for the Duc d'Aumale in 1848.
