Very fine painting in the Nazarene style. Probably a depiction of the mourning Mary at the empty tomb, accompanied by the other two Marys, the angel bringing the news of the empty tomb and the resurrection, and a male companion (saint or one of the tomb guards?) at the left edge of the painting. Re. and sign. 'Math. Villoutreix'. Bezel form, framed in a decorated brass standing frame with silk lining. Dimensions miniature 9.5 x 6 cm, with frame 19.5 x 13.8 cm. [Ac]
