Dark blue box, boards decorated with the title of the book repeated in entangled capital and italic letters, mosaicked in light blue, pink and mauve box, smooth spine decorated in the same spirit with the author's name in light blue box and the title repeated twice in mauve box, light blue box edge-to-edge linings and endpapers, edges gilt on witnesses, cover and spine preserved, dark blue box spine and cover bands folder, lined slipcase (P.L. Martin 1960). First edition. One of the first 26 numbered copies on Hollande van Gelder vellum (no. 3), with this handsome autograph letter from the author to Jacques Millot (1897-1980), an arachnologist but also a great bibliophile and founder of the Société de la reliure originale: to Jacques Millot, // for a lost portrait, // the only one to which I really // hold that of // ELSA // Aragon A superb copy in a period triple binding, produced for Jacques Millot by Pierre-Lucien Martin. Perfectly preserved. Provenance: Jacques Millot, with consignment from the author (1991, no. 158).
