Second edition of the Italian text alone of Dante's Purgatory and Paradise. It is illustrated with 60 wood-engraved plates after drawings by Gustave DORÉ (1832-1883), printed on a tinted background and under a captioned serpente. A full morocco copy by the famous English bookbinder Joseph William Zaehnsdorf (1853-1930). Very rare in this condition. White marks and rubbing to binding. Book 30, corresponding to pages 117-120, is duplicated, the second is bound between pages 256-257.
