First edition of this work on the purge in Poitiers during the Revolution. At the time of the 9th Thermidor, a mournful veil was cast over the Vienne department, and mainly over the commune of Poitiers; several of its inhabitants had been massacred on the scaffolds in Paris, others were dragged to the place of execution, and a greater number were on the death list.
