Vendée - LEMARCHAND (Albert). Album vendéen. Illustration of the stories of the military Vendée. Angers, Lainé frères, 1856. 2 volumes in-folio, green half-chagrin with corners, ornate ribbed spine, gilt title on first covers, gilt head (period binding). First edition, illustrated with 125 out-of-text lithographs, including one in color after Drake's drawings. Each plate is accompanied by a descriptive text on the towns, castles and churches of the Vendée region, as well as parts of Normandy and Brittany. Cities represented include Avranches, Chalonnes-sur-Loire, Fougères, Laval, Luçon, Mayenne, Mont Saint-Michel, Saumur, Vitré, Quimper and Grandville. A good copy from the libraries of the Marquis de Biencourt and Léon Duchesne de La Sicotière, with bookplates. Some rubbing to bindings, a few brown spots.
