Schnappschlossgewehr, Moukhala

Snap-action rifle, Moukhala Morocco, Algeria, or Tunisia, 19th century. Wound Damascus octagonal barrel (length 125 cm), 16 mm caliber, with brass notch sights and silver front sight. Miquelet snap lock with gilt vine motifs, stiff/not in working order. Five barrel bands, four of them of florally chased silver, one replaced. Dark stained walnut full stock with bone and brass inlays on the butt, brass butt cap. Wooden ramrod fragment with brass tip. Length 163 cm.
