ISABELLA CLARA EUGENIA of AUSTRIA, Governor of the Spanish Netherlands Letter signed to "Chier et bien amé". Brussels 6 July 1623 1 p., folio, 30,5 x 21 cm, brown ink on laid paper, in French, autogr. s. "Isabel", counters. "Verreycken" "[...] nonobstant les placards publiés [...] contre les brigands et vagabonds, déjà trouvé si grand nombre par le plat pays, que l'on n'y peult passer son chemin, nous faisons la p[rése]nte, vous ordant de faire incontinent republier le placard du 2 du mois de septembre de l'an 1614 [...]". Isabella (1566-1633), Infant of Spain, daughter of King Philip II, was coruler of the Spanish Netherlands with her husband Albert of Austria from 1598 to 1621; after his death in 1621, she was sole governor.
