Under passe-partout, mod. frame and glass, 68 x 65.5 cm. Good condition. Dispensation granted in order to obtain authorization to take the examinations for the degree of licencié en droit. The Count de Vergennes (1719-1787), who countersigns, was a key figure in the reign of Louis XVI, Minister of Foreign Affairs since the latter's accession in 1774, and as such a major player in French intervention during the American War of Independence. He was also President of the Conseil des Finances from 1783. Attached, also on vellum and in the same frame: receipt for payment of 50 livres de marc d'or for said dispensation, signed Chendret, countersigned Dejobert, conseiller et secrétaire du Roi.
