Lemon jansenist morocco signed Amand, gilt titled spine, gilt int. dent., gilt tr., partly cons. witnesses (min. scratches, slight browning, small stains, one int. bit split). The rarest of the 3 editions attributed to Poulet-Malassis (including one with the Amsterdam address), illustrated with an etching front by Rops on chine depicting the two damsels embracing and an autograph facsimile, in different states according to the edition. Ours includes the 2nd state of the front and the 10-line facsimile. Title in red and black adorned with a fleuron with the head of a horned satyr turned to the left. Condemned in May 1868. Ref.
