Maroquin lavallière signed Canape et Corriez 1932, boards inlaid with a rectangle of raspberry maroquin set with a gilt fillet, itself adorned with a mosaic Renaissance motif in cold-set ivory maroquin, spine with false nerves forming boxes for the author and title in gilt, linings in salmon maroquin framed with a gilt fillet, lavallière moire endpapers, decorated paper double endpapers, gilt tr. on witnesses, ill. cover and spine cons. In a half-maroquin lavallière-striped slipcase, titled and dated in gold, with lined slipcase. First edition. Illustrated with 18 color stencil-enhanced compositions: cover, 5 hors-texte including frontispiece and 12 headbands. Edition of 1000 numbered copies, first edition on japon impérial, with two suites of illustrations in black and in color. An exceptional copy, without justification, including all the original gouaches (18 in all, including the one on the cover) used to illustrate the book. Framed with a gilt border, they are all signed by the painter Cassiers and are larger than the illustrations in the book. The gouaches are also remarkably fresh and fine.
