Model of a nuclear rod assemb…
Description

From the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie Model of a nuclear rod assembly In a nuclear power plant, fuel is stored in the form of pellets stacked in a tube (the cladding). Each cladding is sealed at the ends, and the claddings are assembled into rods. The rods are then placed in assemblies of 250 rods, which are placed in the power plants (which comprise 205 assemblies on average). Typically, in France, we have an assembly of 264 elements and guide tubes (with sensors), divided into 17x17 rows, representing 200 to 500 kg of fissile material per assembly. This model was presented in the Energy section of the Cité des sciences et de l'industrie. H: 160cm - 180cm approx.
