A double-barreled center-fire shotgun by Adam Hunter dating: about 1880 provenance: Belfast, Smoothbore, round, 12 gauge barrels, (clean bores), browning with damascus pattern, the rib signed "ADAM HUNTER MAKER CASTLE ARCADE BELFAST", engraved at the base and with foresight. Tang finely engraved with floral motifs; forward spring locks signed "ADAM HUNTER" and decorated en suite as are all the mounts. Butt and fore-end made of briarwood with hand support and checkered grip. Lower lever. Serial number "1xx". Good quality.

Engraved breech tail. Chased back plates en suite, enriched with reserves decorated with pheasants and partridges, enhanced with a gold fillet. Engraved and chased dogs. Trigger guard featuring a hunter, with carved horn tail. Superb cheek stock in light walnut, carved with foliage, a hunter and his dog in undergrowth and animals, ducks, hares. Squared shaft. B.E. circa 1850-1860
