A rare percussion hunting gun by Antonio Bagnoli

dating: Mid 19th Century provenance: Firenze, Smoothbore, two-stage, octagonal and round, 17,8 mm cal. barrel (a few cracks), breech decorated with engraved frames, rings at the girdle, silver metal foresight, slightly bell-mouthed nozzle. Interesting mechanism with internal lock, recessed in the grip of the stock and integrated in the wide tang. The latter provided with broad sight, engraved with floral motifs and a silver-inlaid cartouche marked with the signature "A. Bagnoli". Engraved and carved cock. Working mechanism but the cock does not hold the snaps. Wooden, half stock with segments carved in scales and longitudinal bands. In the lower part of the butt stock a fine carved bearded face. White metal mounts partially engraved with floral motifs. Brass-tipped wooden ramrod in two segments.
