A rare coconut powder flask

dating: Late 18th - Early 19th Century provenance: Europa, Made from a coconut and carved. Of typical, ovoid shape. The upper part featuring a mask with an eye made of mother-of-pearl and the other one missing, and with the jaws wide open surrounding the fuse (an old repair on the shell, at the base of the fuse), the fuse is made of metal and provided with removable cap. The rest of the body is finely carved in bas-relief. Also featuring two cartouches depicting respectively a trophy of musical instruments, bordered by a frame flanked by flags and weapons, and a trophy with quiver bow and arrows, a flaming heart pierced by an arrow at the center; the cartouche is bordered by cornucopias. With a rosette in relief on the lower part. Two metal rings complete with antique suspension rope. Interesting.
